Dr. Richard R.M. Francis is a distinguished orthopedic spine surgeon based in Houston and Beaumont, TX. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he earned his M.D. at 22 from the University of the West Indies, then trained in general and orthopedic surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, becoming a Fellow in 1995 and board-certified in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Francis completed a postdoctoral spine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and served as an assistant professor at the University of Texas, where he trained residents and fellows. He founded Spine Associates in 2003, offering comprehensive, conservative-to-surgical care—including pediatric and adult spinal deformity treatment—with a patient-first philosophy. A pioneer of artificial disc replacement and robotic-assisted spine surgery, he remains active in the North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society.
