OakBend Medical Center is in the process of remodeling its Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The renovations will help create a warm environment that inspires healing and helps patients achieve their best possible outcomes.
During last year’s Patchwork of Life, the hospital, with the help of the community, raised approximately $390,000 to go toward the renovations. During this time, the patients have been moved from ICU to the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) also on the second floor.
Renovations are expected to be completed by the end of summer. “Although nurses are working outside their regular environment, everyone is trying to make this transition a good experience,” stated Joe Freudenberger, CEO of OakBend Medical Center. “Patients will receive the same level of care, and the ACU is easily accessible to physicians and family. We will be excited to see the final results and to get back into the new ICU.”
