When making a donation to a non-profit organization, you have the option to specify where you would like your funds to go. This is known as designating or restricting your donation. However, if you make a general, unrestricted donation, the non-profit can allocate the funds to where they are needed the most. If you choose to donate to OakBend, you can identify which fund or campaign you would like to support on the donor form. OakBend has various ongoing campaigns and annual events to choose from.
Our hospital is dedicated to providing the best possible care to all patients, regardless of their financial situations. We are fortunate to have the support of generous individual donors, corporations, and foundations who help us acquire the latest diagnostic and surgical equipment. Thanks to their contributions, we recently purchased new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) machines for our Jackson Street Campus. We have also purchased Surgical Endoscopes and Nuclear Medicine Cameras for both Jackson Street and William’s Way locations. With this equipment, we can continue to serve Fort Bend County and the surrounding communities with the highest level of care. Your contribution, of any size, can make a significant difference in the lives of those in the community.
Ongoing Programs
Indigent Care Program
This program helps us achieve our goal of improving access to health care for individuals who do not have the financial means to pay for it. This ultimately results in a healthier community. In 2021, OakBend spent $18 million to offer $83.6 million in services to uninsured and underinsured patients.
BRANCHES Program
This program started in 2020, and helps cover the cost of uninsured or underinsured children seen in our Emergency Rooms. Contributions to this program result in hospital debts being paid while the family only receives a letter stating their bill has been paid. Since the program’s inception, 34 patient visits, at a total cost of $11,279.78, have been covered by funds raised for this program.
Gifts of Gratitude Program
As OakBend’s grateful patient program, “Gifts of Gratitude” is a wonderful way for patients to give back and leave a positive impact for future patients. When a patient or family member has a particularly outstanding experience with their nursing or support staff, they can contribute to this fund. These contributions support the OakBend goal to become the best Healthcare Organization in our community.
Giving Tuesday
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. Radical generosity invites people to give what they can to create systemic change. This day falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. OakBend appeals to members of the community to make general donations to support our hospital’s greatest needs.
Annual Events
Seeds of Generosity
This program encourages members of the OakBend family to embrace our core value of “Ownership.” Ownership to us is about taking the initiative to support the mission of our hospital, and to provide high-quality care, regardless of patient’s ability to pay. Giving back to our hospital is just one way our staff and supporters take that initiative. Moreover, giving back fosters a sense of gratitude and fulfillment within ourselves, which reminds us of our interconnectedness and the power we possess to effect positive change. By giving back, we not only make a difference in the lives of others but also contribute to building a more compassionate and equitable world.
Restaurant Weeks
Participating restaurants and individuals host OakBend Restaurant Weeks events for the entire month of April. These events range from celebrations accompanied by craft beer and barbecue pairings to private events catered by a professional chef. There is sure to be something everyone can enjoy!
Power of the Purse
Historically this event was organized by Friends of OakBend and held annually as a luncheon. It’s grown into an evening of live Bingo to support a great cause and a chance to win a designer purse. Choose to sponsor a table or buy a single ticket. Proceeds are designated to a specific purchase each year. This event is a charity BINGO event that offers all attendants a chance to win designer purses. Food, light refreshments, and wine are provided.
Patchwork of Life
Commonly referred to as “Patchwork”, this is OakBend’s largest fundraising event of the year. Patchwork is a representation of the quilt produced from the sales of personalized quilt squares. These squares are then sewn together connecting the community members and staff who join to support the ongoing growth and of our hospital for this event. A business dress gala including a dinner and drinks along with a live Auction, and the presentation of the Jeff Council Award for Dedicated Service to OakBend Medical Center. Through many generous donations, sponsorships, quilt square purchases, and live auction bids, we have been able to make this event a success since 2011.
